Apple fans, mark your calendars. As you may already guess, the iPhone 17 lineup is landing on September 19, 2025. We expect that the official launch event is expected to happen on either September 9 or 10, followed by pre-orders on September 12. So, if you’re wondering when the iPhone 17 is coming out, watch out for this timeline. You’ll notice that this timeline is no different from the previous years and that's because Apple has maintained this early September release and this year won't be any different. 
From leaks, there's just a handful of upgrades made to the iPhone 17 series while the spotlight will be on the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air because of the 8x optical zoom lens (taking after the iPhone 17 Pro Max). But as we know, that's just a tip of the ice berg, the real deal is in the design, and in its build and all these will be able to come to light once users start to use the device.

Even though Apple is taking pride in its software upgrades and how efficient the A19 chip will be, this does not go without saying that there would be limitations. The Engineering Trade-Off Behind 8x Zoom

Camera lovers get in here. I'm sure Apple had you in mind when they decided that  the iPhone 17 Pro Max would have the 8x optical zoom. This will definitely be a game changer especially when compared to the periscope zoom capabilities of the SamSung Galaxy S25 Ultra. 
Despite this good news, there is a downside as you can already guess – the camera bump is so obvious and thicker than the older models!

In zoom tests, the iPhone 17 Pro Max holds its ground up to 6x, delivering sharp and vibrant images. Beyond that, details soften slightly, although Apple’s image processing works overtime to retain clarity. So, creators and mobile photographers will appreciate the flexibility, but if you’re a casual user, you might find the larger bump a bit of an eyesore.

The rumoured dual camera button on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max is another feature that is becoming a hot topic for discussion. And for people who love to create content, they are already putting in good words because of this button. They say the precise control and feedback of the button will make it easier to take a picture and shoot videos. As good as this feature may seem, it is not without its bad sides. We hear reports from early testers that there have been quite a number of accidental presses when operating with one hand except when an adjustment is made to the position of the button. Unfortunately, this may be a turn off to you if you're a casual user. Apple may slightly change the button sensitivity through software updates post-launch.
